EBRD provided a large loan to Ukrainian supermarket chain

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) allocated $ 100 million to food retailer Novus to expand the network and build an eco-distribution center in Kiev.

EBRD financing will allow the Ukrainian retailer to build and renovate 30 supermarkets by the end of 2022. Novus also plans to build a ecological distribution center in accordance with the principles of BREEAM - a method of environmental assessment of the performance of buildings. In particular, freon and ammonia-free cooling systems will be installed in the center - a novelty in the Ukrainian food retail market.

Grant financing for the project was provided by the government of Japan and the European Union through the EBRD's Climate Finance and Technology Transfer Center.
